Is Argon Gas Toxic?
What does it do?
Argongasis a non-toxic, odorless, cleargas, which, when infused between the panes of a dual paned window, displaces air between the panes. The effect of thegas, because it is more dense than air, is to reduce the thermal conductivity of the space between the panes, the end result being a measurable gain in the cooling or heating properties of the dual paned unit.
Does Argon gas leak out over time? How would I know?
It shouldn’t leak out, but if it did, it would be considered a failure of the unit. You would know if, for example, fog, or moisture, were to develop between the panes, which would alert you to a failure.
What would I do if that were to occur?
Well, if it’s a Simonton 7300, or Madiera Series window, no worries! Simonton carries a double lifetime product and labor warranty, which includes coverage for glass breakage, gas leakage, etc., for the life of the product. You would simply contact your Simonton dealer, and the problem would be eliminated, at no cost to you!
For any other brand, of course, the manufacturer’s specific warranty terms would apply.
We hope the above is helpful!
