Do Clean Solar Panels Have Better Energy Production?

We are very often asked whether it is necessary to clean your solar panels. Numerous studies have come up with numerous answers to the question.

So, I would like to offer the following opinion:

It seems to be a matter of common sense that a cleaner panel would provide better production. However, in many studies this has been found to be not 100% accurate. The following is a link to a study from UCSD HERE.

So, what’s the answer? I think the best way is to research the issue and make your own determination. If, for example, the loss of production could have more value than the cost of cleaning, then by all means do it! Is it worth the cost and trouble and effort? 

Always keep in mind, however, that, like everything else, there are numerous points to consider. Who will do the cleaning? Will they fall off the roof? Will they damage the roof? Do they have roof experience, just in case? Do they have insurance?

The answer to the question should, in reality, be very simple. But, like a lot of things with home ownership, there are always those unknowns.
